Turkey Burn Runs in Gold County

pnrtechnology5170

Turkey Burn organizers have long dreamt of seeing the fundraising concept find additional success in other communities. On Thanksgiving 2021, that dream came true when the Doyle Family, formerly of Pleasanton, ran a remote version of the fun run on Thanksgiving Day morning in Copperopolis in California’s Gold Country.

As Kaarin Doyle explained in an e-mail, as big fans of past Turkey Burns, the family was determined not to miss the event after moving to the Sierra foothills. So, the entire family registered for the event anyway. One of the adults picked up seven blank bibs in Pleasanton the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and drove home in time for everyone to write in their messages of thanks that evening.

Photos of the smiling family and their bibs tell the rest of the story. PNR thanks the Doyles for demonstrating that Turkey Burn can work wherever it goes
